 Tiempo Estático

As a principle, photography is a contradiction: the continuous flow of time is constant motion, the picture is a kind of static time.
In the images we contemplate the transience of time, the mobile eye projected on a camera lens, placed above the Earth and objects made by God or man. All photography is an act of faith, it is our own perception itself fighting for its right to exist and be interpreted as legitimate. The particularity of the artist's eye behind the camera is at the end the affirmation of their individuality, more than the stubborn illustration of a speech. (The photographer's fascination should not be strictly from a voyeur, hidden behind a barricade of curiosity, but rather that of a flaneur, making a commitment, often painful, to the experience of horror and beauty).
Juan Garcia Ponce wrote: "A picture: a time gone, that does not belong to anyone, however, has found its place, has a space, and is in that image, and alive and still."
The words of García Ponce, with all its poetic and despite it, suggest a loss. The image belongs irrevocably to the past, appears to be something unique to the field of memory. The hint of nostalgia for the magic moment frozen precedence over what may give an image, endlessly, at every glance. The image must be able by itself to cause the viewer the evocation of something possible, a story or at least a piece of history. This narrative element and dynamics suggest a literary event, vague and indeterminate, no limits, no beginnings or endings. As in a novel or a story, the series of images (within their own space) confirm the existence of a universe, or the creation of an illusory "strategy or method that has haunted Silvana since its inception as an artist," only this time it is not presenting a decipherable world, nor a microscopic reflection of the real universe, but a kind of blank page that the viewer, with full freedom of imagination can fill.
Move to another part, the illusion of travel, at the end one of the natural targets of fiction.
